Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Between Christmas and visits from two sets of grandparents we're kind of at photo overload around here. So I'm going to share a few cute stories about the kiddos and then have approximately 1 million photos follow with little or not explanation. Really, most are pretty self explanatory.

We had a lovely time when Colleen and Kerry came to visit and went to Union Station which was very neat and decorated for Christmas. It was so neat that I took my parents there the following week for another visit. Both Bradley and Eleanor loved it both times (both the photos above were taken at Union Station). I'm pretty sure we're going to visit every holiday season from now on!

Bradley was underwhelmed by the miniature train ride

The miniature train was kind of hilarious. Bradley had the same expression of transfixed horror the entire ride. But he didn't cry. We're really not sure what he thought of the ride and I don't know if he knew what he thought of the ride either.

The play room in the back of the miniature train exhibit area was a hit for both Bradley and Eleanor. My parents enjoyed how Bradley would push himself in to play wherever he liked, despite any pesky bigger kids being in the way. Shy we are not.

Bradley continues to be so much fun and such a little imp but Eleanor is the big news around these parts these days. So many new developments! We've been sleep training her which is an ironic thing to call something that involves so much less sleep. Particularly for her parents. She's already doing better but I miss the swaddle days something fierce some nights.

Eleanor is also almost crawling

and pulled herself upright into a standing position the other day while holding onto our toy piano. She's barely 6 months old. Oh dear. She's currently also the bossiest member of this household which is no small feat. For instance, Bradley is not allowed to touch or hold my smart phone but Eleanor HOWLS at the sight of it when she wants to hold it and the girl gets what she wants. She howled at me the other night while I was eating my bowl of ice cream but I did manage to withhold that from her. Barely. She wanted it very badly.

Luckily, she's generally a dear (as all of us Scotts are) and she does have to put up with a bit with the Bradley boy loves. We save her from too much love on a regular basis.

Right amount of love
Too much love!

And for the large amount of photos. Here are a few from before grandparents arrived for the holidays.

Finally found a big enough stick
Yeah this is how we watch shows. How do you watch tv? You're doing it wrong.

Arrival of Colleen and Kerry. They were big helps with watching children while we were able to get some projects done around the house and Kerry helped Nathan with a number of larger projects we had been trying to get to. Very successful visit!

Christmas morning.

Presents are for eating, yes?

Nope, Mommy's chin is for eating. Got it right this time.

Arrival of my parents! The grandparents got to have Christmas dinner together which was pretty fun.

Christmas dinner festivities with party poppers. I may not know how to cook a ham (thank goodness for pre-cooked ones from Costco) but I know how to throw a kid and grandparent friendly party!

Grandma and Grandpa got to stay in the waiting room at the pediatrician's office while Eleanor went in for her 6 month check-up. She was 26.5 inches which is 73rd percentile and 18 lbs 2.5 oz which is 85th percentile. I like my round babies! I was told that Bradley served as the welcoming committee for all the other children coming into the doctor's office and was busy trying to play with all the other kids the entire time Eleanor had her appointment.

Bradley helps make sure nursing the baby is not a boring process. Thanks. Thanks a lot.

Taking pictures for my mom's latest nerd book. This one was on acceleration and featured a song about the kinematic equations.

Neighbor kid's electric car. Bradley wasn't too sure about this either.

Eleanor loves the book my mom made her!
Bradley would like to read the book too.
Eleanor also loves the stocking my mom made her!

And she continues to grow more interested in the amazing baby quilt her great-grandma (my mom's mom) made for her that we use on a daily basis.
Things are going really well and we feel like we're finally getting settled in! We had a nice New Years after we finally got out of the house. Eleanor is a bit of a night owl and stayed up till 9:00, which made it hard to leave our house (like cool kids!) and go over to a friend's house to eat dessert, drink champagne (cool!) and play cards (cool?). Eleanor is actually pretty hilarious at night now that we've outgrown the swaddle. I feed her and then try to lay her down in her crib and she starts cooing excitedly and laughing and she gets to be awake for another hour flirting with everyone and having party time until she's really tired at 9:00 or even 10:00. I don't care if this means she only wakes up once in the night time. Also, she's adorable and so she can do whatever she wants. Look at this adorable mess asleep on her grandma! She quietly fell asleep in her grandma's arms while playing. I will have help in the spoil Eleanor project.
